Induction Cooktop 12 Inch
Top Positive Review
It was great while it was functional. Last evening (12/16/19} while using two burners, it quit. “No power” The brkr had tripped. I reset it & touched the on/off control to restart. There was a loud pop & the brkr tripped again. There was nothing wrong with the wiring connections. I’ve owned the unit less than 100 days & it gets very little use. I talked with an Amazon rep. She tried to connect me with Gasland Chef & after 5 min. advised me to call them (warranty 1 yr.) don’t know what that means. After 3hrs of trying to talk with a rep I succeeded. He told me to take pictures of the wiring in my power panel & stove connections & send him the photos. I don’t know how to send pictures on the internet & don’t intend to learn. I told him I was a retired Navy chief petty officer & merchant mariner first engineer with 40 yrs experience in electrical problems & there was nothing wrong with the elec connections. I was telling him I’d send the stove top to him & he hung up on me. I need a stove now not in the future. I won’t be using Gasland Chef products anymore.
Top Critical Review
We have been early adopters of induction cooktops and have had several units in several homes during the past 15-20 years. So we know what induction cooking and cooktops is all about. This cooktop fails on several points and we do not recommend it. The biggest issue, it throws of an enormous amount of heat into the cavity below the cooktop. Ours is mounted above a utensil kitchen drawer and everything inside is hot to the touch when the cooktop is operating. We did not have this issue with the previous induction cooktop in this very same location. The Gasland induction cooktop also is acting-up in many different ways. For example, you splash a little bit of water on the cooktop (like when you boil potatoes) and the cooktop will shut-down. You touch it in the wrong way and it will shut-down. It also goes into ??overheat mode?? when there is no reason for it and 2-3 minuted later, it switches back to working mode. It also reduces the power level while cooking when there is no reason for it. I thought the unit is defective but add to all this an uncaring or unknowledgeable customer/tech support, who tells you all this is normal, and the bottom line is, there are other choices. Look for some other brand. Quite unfortunately because this 2 zone cooktop has a BBQ function which combines both coils into one heating/cooking which would be quite handy at times.
