I began researching induction cooktops a number of years ago & became sold on the technology. (theinductionsite.com has a lot of good information) I came across some used Cooktek commercial units cheap on craigslist & bought them to see if I really liked cooking on them. All I can say is WOW, I will never cook on anything else, including the Viking 48″ range I got rid of! (ever cleaned a Viking stove???) Induction is SO easy to clean, stuff doesn’t burn on them like a regular glass top. Soooo, I began searching for a 36 inch cooktop at a GOOD price & with the right burner configuration for how I cook. I had already been looking at the Empava 36″ unit when Amazon suggested the Empava IDCF9. Oh my gosh, the perfect configuration!! If you look at my pics you will see that I am able to use everything from my smallest skillet & sauce pan, to my largest skillet, to my two 22 quart Tramontina stock pots (or 16 quart or 12 quart), to my two Fagor 10 quart pressure canners, to my 16 inch flat bottom cast iron wok from The Wok Shop, and lest I forget, my two Lodge 16 3/4 x 9 1/2 cast iron reversible griddle/grills on the 2 bridge burners! The absolute ONLY possible negative I can think of is that sometimes the controls are a tiny bit touchy & I have to press it more than once, but I’ve always been able to get to the setting I wanted. That is not a deal breaker for me, with all the good this cooktop has to offer. I am completely happy & satisfied with it, and I hope Empava continues to make this burner configuration (IDCF9) FOREVER, in case I ever need another one! And by the way, to the person who left a 2 star review because YOU didn’t do your research, that’s really not fair to the cooktop OR the company! I say THANK YOU EMPAVA!!!

Update: It has been 6 weeks since I started begging for help. I still have not received a call yet,, but I keep receiving emails to rewrite my email. That’s all Empava cares about. Original post: I purchased a two burner Empava 120v induction cooktop and installed it in late April in my kitchen island. The lights came on when plugged in, but the unit will not heat, and I have had an “E3” error message indicating “voltage supply” is too high. I have been going back and forth with customer service via voicemail, email etc. for literally weeks. They required that I send pictures, videos etc. which I have done, but they won’t take the time to call me and trouble shoot the problem with me. Now, they have simply stopped returning my emails, so I guess I’m on my own with no resolution. I have called out the contractor and an electrician who both verified that the voltage in the outlet was correct. We plugged it into several other 120v outlets and the error message persists. Empava does not stand behind their products apparently and will leave you holding the bag. Now I have a useless appliance and a hole in my granite counter top, and no cooktop. I now have to pay $480 to install a different brand of cooktop because i can’t get customer support from Empava.. I tried to contact Amazon customer service as they were the “seller”, and they cannot be contacted by phone. Every other large firm has figured out how to provide customer service during Covid, why not them. Don’t buy Emapava, you will be sorry.

I want to use in an off grid application. can the unit be run on 110vac? and what is the total wattage if all elements are used full power at once?
Answer: No, the total wattage is about 10200W

How much clearance does the bottom need? Does it get hot on the bottom of the unit when it’s turned on?
Answer: Very low profile you can see on the specs it??s about 2 1/8 inches in depth. I turned it on high and there??s no heat radiating from the bottom but the burner gets hot very quick I??m very impressed with this unit! Five stars
