UPDATE
Well, I’m updating my review because fortunately this company has responded well to my situation. They sent me a completely new stove! Great! It has worked flawlessly the last 2 days, so I guess they and I got unlucky with the first one which was behaving strangely from the beginning. Nonetheless, they had supported me all the way, and that says a lot about at company and I hope it gives confidence to other costumers. I’m very happy. This stove is great and I like that it is compact having 5 burners and all touching sensors controls. It looks amazing at my kitchen.

UPDATE
Customer service has contacted me and they are trying to solve the situation.
——————————
After around 15 minutes of use, the upper left burner sensor control gets stuck at level 2. The rest of the burners work while you won’t turn them off, otherwise they won’t turn back on.

The behavior persists even if the stove is completely turn off and back on.

To get the stove to work again, I have to disconnect it from the wall plug and connect it again, until a few minutes of cooking that the weird behavior arise again.

After a week of trying to contact, one month ago Thermomate reply to me and sent me a new motherboard, which I did appreciate since I know that it’s the main part of the whole stove basically.

As an experience engineer it was not complicated to replaced it and apparently the stove started to work fine but, sadly, it didn’t resolve the issue, the problem is not gone and it behaves exactly as before.

Although I really like the stove and its format, unfortunately, a situation like this could be a really bad indication of quality and thus deserves a bad review.

I’m not willing to keep this monthly trial and error to try to fix it and after replacing a motherboard it could be anything.

Now it seems that it will be better to through this to the garbage and find another solution to my stove situation.

So be aware that the odds could be against you and get an erratic dysfunctional product as it happened to me.

We purchased a name-brand unit at our old home several years ago and used it for 5 years before selling the home. We have the correct pots and pans for the induction oven and have the experience of using it. We just purchased a home and needed an induction cooktop to replace the 60’s unit that was here. The pandemic has made buying appliances difficult and I had to settle on this. The unit is easy to install and wire. The unit will heat for approximately 5 seconds and then cycle off for 5 over and over. My other unit did not do this..it heated continuously. If you are cooking for any length of time the unit will not lower the heat or turn off. We had to reset the breaker at least twice a week to get the cooktop to turn off. The cooktop is very sensitive to water and will turn off with just a little bit. I sent this unit back and will never purchase this brand again. I understand this unit is cheap compared to the name brand, but you get what you pay for.

Customer Questions & Answers

The cooktop appears to heat and pauses for 5 seconds and heats again. Is this usual or is there a way to stop this?
Answer:

The cooktop does pulse if your setting is low, it will turn on then off. The higher the setting the longer it will run between off cycles. On the highest settings it may just stay on.

Be careful on any setting over 6. The pot of pan will heat quickly, example, a can of soup will heat will heat so fast it may b??

What is the procedure to unlock the cooktop? My wife accidentally lock it and can not turn back on. We hold the locked button for 3secs but not work
Answer: Thanks for your consultation, please long-press the locked button for 3-5 seconds to unlock the cooktop. If still can’t unlock it, please contact us by email: support@thermomate.com

How long is the warranty and what does it cover?
Answer: 1 year

Can you use a large pressure cooker on this cook top?
Answer: See if a magnet sticks to the bottom of the cooker. If it does, it can be used on an induction cooktop. BTW we love ours.

What size breaker is required?
Answer: Normally a 45 or 50A will be best but I would not install this product in the USA It is not UL approved or listed.
